Description :
Under the supervision of the Chief Engineering Officer, the Interior Systems Specialist will be responsible for analyzing, designing, and detailing modifications to the interior of rolling stock, whether on an ad-hoc basis or as part of revision programs.

The Interior Systems Specialist will utilize their technical skills and expertise to address functional, aesthetic, and ergonomic aspects. Additionally, they will coordinate with stakeholders, ensuring compliance with industry regulations and VIA standards.

Responsibilities:

• Determine schedules, assess costs for materials, labor, and design;
• Perform design work based on established criteria;
• Conduct design reviews with stakeholders to define and approve internal and external designs;
• Supervise and lead the development of a prototype;
• Prepare technical documentation (BOM, drawings, procedures, finish specifications, etc.);
• Act as a liaison and provide technical support to various teams involved in different projects;
• Contribute to defining maintenance requirements for the new configuration;
• Document technical specifications in accordance with industry regulations and VIA standards, while minimizing costs.
Requirements :
• Hold a university degree in industrial design;
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role;
• Practical experience with mechanical design principles, including interior system design/maintenance;
• Familiarity with various materials and shaping/manufacturing processes (metals, plastics, fibers, fabrics, coverings, adhesives, paint, etc.);
• Proficiency in CAD software: SOLIDWORKS and AUTOCAD;
• Strong command of the Microsoft Office suite;
• Knowledge of the Adobe suite (Illustrator and Photoshop);
• Experience in the railway or heavy transportation sector (an asset);
• Experience in an industrial production environment (an asset);
• Familiarity with accessibility design and standards (for people with reduced mobility), CSA (CTA), APTA, etc. (an asset).
