Description :
Under the supervision of the Director of Corporate Security and Intelligence, the Security Systems Administrator (SSA) holds a central position in preserving the security and integrity of VIA Rail sites.

The SSA will also be responsible for managing and overseeing all access requests for VIA Rail employees and any other individuals requiring access to VIA Rail sites, while ensuring compliance with appropriate security levels for each location. Additionally, this responsibility includes continuous monitoring of nationwide video surveillance systems, as well as implementation and monitoring of intrusion detection systems to prevent unauthorized intrusions.

Working closely with various teams during security-related incident investigations, the SSA must take appropriate measures to reduce risks and security breaches. Maintaining accurate reports on security activities, including incidents, security tests, and system updates, is crucial to ensuring transparency and compliance with regulations.

Responsibilities:
• Process and supervise access requests for employees and others requiring access to various VIA Rail sites within the Access Control Management System (ACMS) and Enterprise Video Management System (EVMS) considering the security level based on location
• Responsible for monitoring all video surveillance systems for the VIA Police & Corporate Security portfolio across Canada
• Ensure surveillance of perimeter intrusion detection systems to prevent unauthorized intrusions into company facilities
• Perform periodic maintenance interventions on security systems to ensure their effectiveness and reliability
• Support and train third party stakeholders of security systems to ensure they understand their operation and use them correctly
• Stay informed about the latest technological advancements in security and propose updates or improvements to existing systems
• Work collaboratively with different teams during security-related incident investigations and take necessary measures to reduce risks or security breaches
• Maintain accurate reports and documentation on security-related activities, including incidents, security tests, and system updates
• Ensure company security systems comply with regulations and standards in force
• Work closely with various stakeholders to ensure a holistic approach to company security.
Requirements :
• Ability to obtain and maintain a SECRET-level security clearance from the Government of Canada;
• College diploma in a relevant discipline related to enterprise security;
• Minimum of 6 years of experience in a similar position, including a minimum of two years of experience in managing Access Control Management System (ACMS) and video surveillance systems;
• Industry-related security certification, such as Certified Protection Professional, (an asset);
• Excellent ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing (English and French);
• In-depth knowledge of information technologies and technological environments;
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite;
• Experience in key management systems and intrusion detection (an asset);
• Experience in risk management, security, or law enforcement (an asset).
